N°6 CADIA RUBRA - Pin by THE GREEN SECRETS
Genus: Cadia Forssk
Species: Cadia rubra R.Vig
Cadia rubra is a freshwater plant endemic to Madagascar. It has an area of occupancy of 9 km2 and is present in a single location. This species does not occur within a protected area and it experiences continuing declines in habitat and the number of mature individuals due to agriculture, illicit logging and wildfire. It is therefore assessed as Critically Endangered (CE).
THE GREEN SECRETS is created by two women endlessly fascinated by the beauty, diversity and delicacy of plants. The collection of pins represents mainly endangered plants and flowers, but also ones of under-appreciated charm. THE GREEN SECRETS believes that these pins can become artifacts of special meaning to their owners, reminders of the wild beauty outside our concrete cities.
THE GREEN SECRETS is proud to support the vital preservation work of The IUCN Red List of Threatened SpeciesTM by donating part of their profit to the institution.
The IUCN Red List of Threatened SpeciesTM is widely recognized as the most comprehensive, objective global approach for evaluating the conservation status of plant and animal species. From its small beginning, The IUCN Red List has grown in size and complexity and now plays an increasingly prominent role in guiding conservation activities of governments, NGOs and scientific institutions.
By joining and sharing the cause of the IUCN Red List, THE GREEN SECRETS wants to take part in preserving one most precious thing we all have - the nature of our planet.
