Oki Sato, born in 1977 in Toronto, Canada, studied Architecture at Waseda University in Tokyo. He graduated in 2002 and founded his own studio nendo in Tokyo. Nendo, meaning «plasticine», is a metaphor for his desire of flexibility and the necessity to keep reinventing.
First the name of Lemnos. It was chosen by Hiroshi Takata in reference to the Greek island Lemnos, home of God Hephaistos, God of craftsmen. Lemnos was a brass and metal manufacture before working with Seiko Clock co., ltd. (the well-known clocks and watches SEIKO) in 1966. They supplied the mechanisms and other pieces to Seiko.
In 1988 Lemnos started developing his own products with a unique and original design.
All products are thouroughly made by high skilled craftsmen in Japan. The materials are highlighted to offer innovative and timeless clocks. « A clock not only indicates time, it is a masterpiece of craftsmenship and design. It is not like a fading fashion, it is timeless.» H. Takata.
